We’ve been hearing a lot on the news about translations going machine or technology generated. Google translate has been out there for quite some time; my son even turned in a paper in Greek back in 4th grade. He doesn’t speak Greek and his teacher was not amused.
Google translate aside, translation companies are taking advantage more and more of CAT tools and Translation Memories. But these are tools, not replacements, for the human touch. Will humans ever be taken out of the equation? Not likely, as the following article from the Economist predicts.
