Kentucky Fried Chicken launched a campaign last year appealing to its Hispanic clientele, using the phrase “Para chuparse los dedos”, which translates to “Good enough to lick one’s fingers”. Not a surprise since KFC’s famous slogan “finger lickin’ good” has been around for decades.
This Wednesday, June 29, kicks off the first ever Istanbul Woodwind Festival in Turkey. The festival will run through July 3 at the Caddebostan Cultural Cente. The festival’s goal is to promote Turkish culture by sharing contemporary Turkish music with festival goers and participants.

I’m sure you remember sitting in English class, learning about boring and dry punctuation rules. You had to fix sentences that had commas in the wrong spot or that had left out periods. But did you realize that sometimes the lack, or overuse, of punctuation can completely alter the meaning of a sentence? For example, the addition of a period in the following sentence completely changes the meaning:
I don’t think I’m funny.
I don’t think. I’m funny.
French singer and songwriter, Héloïse Letissier, who performs under the name Christine and the Queens, is anything but ordinary. Her music combines performance with art, everything from choreography to photography.
Letissier was named Best Female Artist in 2015 at the French equivalent to the Grammys. She has also had international success with her self titled album, in which she translated songs from French to English. One song in particular, “Tilted”, which Time Magazine named one of the best songs of 2015, has become a U.S. hit. Check it out above.
From the first time Takeo Ischi heard a German yodeling song, it was when he was in high school in his native Japan, he was fascinated by it. He went on to study mechanical engineering and during his spare time, he taught himself to play two of the main yodeling instruments, the zither and the hammered dulcimer. Franz Lang, known as German’s Yodelking, was his idol. while listening to Lang’s music he also picked up the mastery of yodeling.
